The Meat Up
After nearly five years of hard work, Lily Andersen and Meagan Lannan, two Paradise Valley agricultural entrepreneurs, launched the area’s first online marketplace for sourcing locally grown and produced food from Park County. At the Meat Up Food Hub website, you will find regional food to order and purchase. Customers pick up their orders in the parking lot of the Spur Line, a Livingston animal feed store on U.S. Highway 10 West, on Friday afternoons from 3-5pm.
serious situation.
In Montana, 130,980 people are facing hunger - and of them 39,580 are children. face hunger. That is 1 in 6 children. Half of Montana's 56 counties have areas considered food deserts: low-income areas where at least 500 people, and/or 33% of the residents, must travel more than ten miles to the nearest supermarket (or 1 mile in urban areas). The Meat UP is working to provide SNAP (food benefits to low-income families) and add more producers to meet the demand to supply quality foods in rural schools.
Barney Creek LIvestock, Meagan Lannan
Meagan and her husband own Barney Creek Livestock, a regenerative adaptive grazing operation in the Greater Yellowstone area. Their management practices are centered on providing their cattle with the highest food value and nutrients from diverse grasses. By finishing their beef on this rich diet and using low-stress livestock handling techniques, they produce nutrient-dense protein that supports human health. Barney Creek's approach not only builds soil and revitalizes ecosystems but also ensures they give back more to the land through their responsible grazing services.
MilkMAID MEATS, Lily andersen
Milkmaid Meats started from our farms history- in the 1950s my husband's great-grandfather started milking cows in the Paradise Valley. By the 1970s, an abundance of hay led to the addition of beef cows, and we've continued to build on his legacy ever since. Our mountain-raised pork and beef are nurtured with care, using rotational grazing to promote both soil and animal health. We finish our livestock with high-quality local Montana feeds, ensuring that every cut of meat reflects the rich, natural bounty of the valley we call home.
